In 2018, I embark on a new creative journey. Towards the end of 2017, I decided I wanted to produce more video content on a consistent basis. I began working on a new video series to premiere in 2018 called “Run The Layers”. Run The Layers is a show created because I thought it was a cool name and I love Adobe Illustrator (+ the entire Adobe Creative Cloud) and making logos. The purpose behind the show is to take the viewer on a journey on how designs are created. I want to break down all the layers, figurative and literal, within pieces of graphic design.
Creating a production schedule means understanding all the elements that go into your videos. During each step of the journey, you accomplish something that gets you closer to uploading something worthwhile.
Here’s how I break down my attempt at making videos.
Every Thursday, I am posting a new video in addition to my weekly Tuesday blog. CreativeBobbieTV will teach lessons learned through my design work as well as show some behind the scenes / works-in-progress. In the future, there will be tutorials and case studies for those who want to know more about what I do and how it can help them.
This is another idea I’ve had for awhile and have finally delved into. I’ve written about the importance of video in the past. This is me entering that space on a regular and (hopefully) long-term basis.
There have been 3 episodes released thus far so make sure you subscribe on YouTube and follow me on social media to get notified of new episodes!
I am a lover of the visual medium. As a graphic designer, I enjoy seeing great visuals and designing work that others will enjoy. When you are trying to tell your story, you want to create content that attracts the right eyes and inspires the owners of those eyes to share your content. Video content is the best way to accomplish your goals.
On my Instagram, I post daily* episodes of “Touch of Gold IG.TV”. I was empowered by Instagram’s decision to extended the length of video uploads from 15 to 60 seconds and inspired to take full advantage with an Instagram video show.
Topics I’ve touched (hehe) on include (but are not limited to):
– Creating visual brand identities
– How to create a video show for your brand
– Reason to create sitemaps before designing websites
– The importance of sketching in creating logos
Touch of Gold IG.TV is a deposit I’m making into the creative community.
